Singleton Environment Centre does not receive any regular running costs from local councils, central government or any other source.
Ashford Borough Council owns the building and grounds.
Singleton Spaces has to raise the full cost of the operation and does so from room hire, office rental and surplus from the Footprints Cafe. It pays for the Centre Manager, Cafe staff and running costs.
Everything else is down to the volunteer board and other community supporters.
Singleton Spaces. Registered charity number 1180577.
The programme of activities at the Centre is part-funded by successful grant applications. A modest charge is made for individual sessions at the Centre.
Grants are usually very specific in their project-purpose and considerable effort goes into every application.
In the 2017/18 financial year grants have included:
Tesco Bags for Life – picnic tables and benches (see photographs)
Great Chart with Singleton Parish Council
In the financial year 2018/19 the Centre raised crowd-funded contributions, via JustGiving, from people collecting timber from the contractors removing the trees along Chart Road for the A28 widening. It raised £450 for community and school activities.
To ensure a robust financial future for Singleton Environment Centre more funding applications are in progress. If you have knowledge and skills with fundraising to support this small charity, please contact John Alexander, Centre Manager, on 01233 666519 or email
