Words and Brunch

Saturday 27th April, 10am – 11:30am, Free

Words and Brunch is our monthly creative writing workshop, led by Sita. Every month has a different theme; this month’s theme is Water.

Writers of all levels are welcome to this workshop, where you will have time to explore the monthly theme and follow a series of writing prompts to create your own writing pieces. And once you’ve finished, you can buy your own brunch from the cafe!

Kites and Flights

Saturday 4th May, 10am – 11:30am or 12pm – 1:30pm, £4.50 per child

Kites and Flights is a fun activity session involving making different flying things! Your little one could make themselves a flying kite, some other flying object (a paper plane, perhaps?) or even their own flying creature! There will be a picture hunt around the grounds too for lots of famous fliers, and colouring activities too! This event is suitable for children aged 2 – 8.

Please note that each ticket allows entry for one child with one accompanying adult. Additional adults may be requested to wait outside the activity room to allow for all participants to safely participate in the activities. Thank you for your cooperation.

Relaxation for Pain Management

Saturday 11th May, 10am – 1pm, £10 per person

Led by the experienced practicioner Jenny Tippen, this Relaxation for Pain Management event will cover different breathing techniques, types of pain, alternative treatments and deep colour relaxation which, with practice, can be used for the management and control of pain. Also, an explanation of the colours, their physical and emotional properties and the parts of the body related to them. Many attendees have reported a reduction in their pain during these sessions and some reported that their pain had gone completely. Free tea and coffee is included in the ticket, and don’t forget to wear some comfortable clothes!

Big Bee Day

Saturday 18th May, 10am – 11:30am or 12pm – 1:30pm, £4.50 per child

Join us to celebrate all that bees do for us on Big Bee Day! Your little one will get to make their own bumblebee, create a bee-themed card, complete some colouring activities and then explore the Environment Centre grounds to find all of the bee pictures hidden all around!

Prosecco with Purses

Sunday 19th May, 12pm – 1.30pm, £6 per person

Our Prosecco with series continues with a session run by the Sewing Circle. Learn how to make your own purse, glasses case or jewellery pouch. Choose from a large range of beautiful fabrics and pick up lots of tips and tricks to create your own masterpiece. Enjoy a glass of prosecco included in the price of the workshop. Suitable for ages 16 years +. Apple juice is available for those under 18 and preferring not to drink alcohol.

Jaws and Claws

Tuesday 28th May, various time slots throughout the day, £6 per person

Back by popular demand, Phil is returning with his wonderful creatures. Learn all about the animals whilst you stroke and hold them during the 45 minute session. A SEND session is available at 9.30am providing a quieter and calmer environment. Everyone attending must have a valid ticket. Suitable for age 0 – 100! Babes in arms do not need to purchase a ticket.

Wild Wednesday

Wednesday 29th May, 9am – 3pm, £20 per child

Our drop and leave session is suitable for children aged 6 years +. This child led day provides opportunities to take part in pond dipping, den building, firepit cooking, scavenger hunts, nature craft and team games. A great way to get your child exploring outdoors within a safe environment. Bring your own packed lunch.

Nature Stories: Zog

Friday 31st May, 10am – 11.30am, £5 per child

Our Nature Stories series, for children aged 2.5 years +, continues this half term with the fantastic story of Zog. Take part in this immersive story telling session as we journey through the centre grounds. Along the way you’ll take part in Zog’s school lessons and make your own dragon wings in order to fly, create a potion as medicine for Zog’s sore throat, toast marshmallows, hunt for princesses, and make your own sword ready to fight a knight.

World Ocean Day

Saturday 8th June, 10am – 11:30am or 12pm – 1:30pm, £10 per person

This fun morning session will be full of different activities all to do with the ocean! Your little one will get to learn about lots of different marine life and seashore creatures, with a colouring competition and nature trail too!

Stress Management and Relaxation

Saturday 15th June, 10am – 1pm, £10 per person

Led by the experienced practicioner Jenny Tippen, learn about the causes of stress and its effects on the body, how to deal with panic attacks and hyperventilation and how to minimise stress in your life. Discover the benefits of relaxation and practise 3 different techniques. Free tea and coffee are provided, and don’t forget to wear some comfy clothes!

Terranium Workshop

Saturday 17th August, 1pm – 3.30pm, £35 for a small or £45 for a medium

Terrapy workshops introduce you to the wonderful world of terraniums, how they work, their fascinating history and how to make one. Choose from a small terannium or a medium terranium. Your tropical creation will be yours to keep forever.

Pond dipping

Please note the pond is only available as a supervised activity and these are limited in number. The newts are a protected species.

Under careful supervision, and with approved nets and specimen trays, our very special pond will be explored on future dates – TBC.
