An eco programme for those aged 8 – 15 years. Drop and leave learning sessions run on the last Saturday of the month, February to November (no session in August). You are welcome to join at any point during the year. The cost covers access to all 9 learning sessions, the Eco Warriors handbook and at home task guidance. Complete a minimum of 6 sessions along with the at home task to achieve your SEC Eco Award.

Our home ed sessions run monthly with a different environmental theme. Each session includes a topic introduction, two experiments and discussion. Different aspects of science such as fair testing, hypothesis and data collection will be weaved into the sessions. Sessions are best suited to children aged 5 years to 11 years (however, you know your child’s stage of learning best so all are welcome).

Our popular drop and leave all day nature sessions are back this school half term. The day is child led with a variety of activities on offer including pond dipping, nature craft, team games, problem solving, scavenger hunts and firepit cooking. Suitable for children 8 years +. Children need to bring a nut free packed lunch, water bottle and suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.

Drop and leave art session for children aged 8 years +. Pareidolia in art is the creative use of the human tendency to perceive familiar patterns, like faces or animals, in random or abstract shapes, inspiring both artists and viewers. During the workshop the children will learn about the work of David Zinn before creating their own Pareidolia art.

During this immersive story telling session we’ll be making craft related to the story to bring the story alive. As we are journeying around the centre grounds please ensure you dress appropriately for an outside session.

Throughout the May half term (or whilst stocks last) take part in our Flower Trail within the centre grounds to win a prize. Purchase your trail sheet from the cafe, search the centre grounds to find all the flowers and return your completed sheet to the cafe staff to claim your wooden flower prize.

Please note the pond is only available as a supervised activity and these are limited in number. The newts are a protected species.

Under careful supervision, and with approved nets and specimen trays, our very special pond will be explored on future dates – TBC.
